| We all know that the USA versions of MegaMan Star Force/Ryusei no Rockman have no voice acting clips in the games. Seems Capcom got lazy and didn't wanna pull a BN5 DS and dub the games, or just keep the voices from the Japanese versions like in X6 and Network Transmission. Fuck'em. That's where Yu and I come in. We've found a way so that if you're using a ROM of the game, whether it's on the flashcards or an emulator, we can "hack" the data and replace the game's "removed" voice data with our own stuff. Or, we can just swap the entire sounddata.sdat file inside of the ROM from the Japanese versions to the USA ones so you can play the game with Japanese voice acting. We've tested the method for Japanese voices many times, and got even a few other games, like The World Ends With You, to have English text, but Japanese voices and such. So far, we've gotten the title screens of Star Force 2 - Zerker X Ninja to work the voice I've recorded for it. If things go well, we can have the patched ROMs up for grabs by next month. But for now, I'll release a zip containing all the voices recorded. Since we're using the USA ROM as the base, some voice clips, such as Bud, Zack, Sonia, War-Rock, and the Group title screen voices don't even work at all. So, we chose not to record them since we knew that they weren't going to work anyways. Even when we swapped the soundata.sdat files from the regions, the voices wouldn't play for our Japan-Voice patched ROMs. So for the most part, it's a Subaru/Geo dub. As for Ryusei 3's voices in the WiFi menu with Shidou and such, we're not sure if they're gonna get jacked in the USA release of the game, seeing how it's not out yet. Hell, I didn't even need to record voices for it since we've got a hunch that Capcom MIGHT go and dub the game. megaupload.com megaupload.comP7GBRQPDYes, I know some voices sound stupid. I tried to sound like the Cartoon Network dub of the show. Hope you like them, though. |

| Well, if anyone cares, I've begun doing some test-patching so far. Star Force 2 - Zerker X Ninja version successfully works the title screen voice clips and Kizuna Big Bang special moves.
As for Buster Max, Warrior Blood/Soul, King Gradneur, and Tribe ON/Double Tribe/Triple Tribe voices, those might take a bit longer.
We'll get a video of this soon and let you all see an example of how the progress is so far. :3
When it's completely finished and fixed, we'll be releasing two versions of the ROM.
-Version with dub voices but with JPN version terms. (Dinosaur, Shinobi, Berzerk) -Version with dub voices but with USA version terms. (Saurian, Ninja, Zerker)
Examples will be things like:
Demon Flurry becomes Fuumashippujin. Enma Gale Flurry becomes Enmareppujin. Thousand Kick becomes Senretsu Kyaku.
So yeah, wish us luck? |

| I thought the download didn't work at first, but it does now.
I've listened to them now, and........they're lacking energy, as unusual at that may sound. If someone is voicing their move/attack in an anime, do they just read the name of it, or do they shout the name from the top of their lungs in a furious fit of justified rage? The answer is the last one, and even though you won't need to take it to the same proportions I would still like to see more of it.
To break it down, you're reading the moves and transformations like an announcer. Sure, you put emphasis in it, but if this were a boxing match, your voice would be more suitable for the guy up in the commentor's cubicle rather than the boxer within the ring. The biggest reason why that is the case? You put most of the emphasis midway, when in reality it's in the end of the sentence (this depends on the pronounciation of the last word).
How you do it:
DOUBLE TRIBE
TRIBE ON
How you should do it:
DOUBLE TRIBE
TRIBE ON
There are of course exceptions to it.
NINJA
TRIBE KING
This is how you emphasized them , and you chose well to do so, because these point out two things: 1) What syllable which usually holds the most emphasis (ever heard of a 'ninjA'? Didn't think so) and 2) If several words, which holds the most importance? (tribe KING puts the focus in the wrong place).
It can hard to decide at some times, I know, and I feel like a jerk for pointing this out when you've recorded so many soundfiles, but emphasis in the right place and in the right amount makes for a really big difference.
Favorite clips:
SF3 Atomic Blazer
SF3 Black End Galaxy 2
SF2 Thousand kick |

| Some of the mistakes were intentional, to give it a "Capcom dub" feel to it.
But yes, thank you for taking the time to listen to all of them and everything. |

A video to show our current progress.
Yes, I know some of the clips are bad quality, or play in strange ways. We're still fixing up the clips by making them the correct volumes and everything.
Because I've been given complaints because of the voices sounding "bad" and stuff, I might be thinking of re-recording them to be a bit better.
Though, it misses the whole point of them sounding shitty. >_> |

| Honestly, I don't care if it's meant to be bad.
You should at least try, cause it's down right terrible.
No offense.
I mean, who cares if Capcoms dubs were bad? If YOU are trying to bring fans joy, you should try and make the dubs sound GOOD. Otherwise, I think fans would prefer the freaking one WITHOUT your dub voices. I mean, tha "Hoh" "Ha" "Tah" and all that shit sound TOTALLY emotionless. I mean, c'mon. Stop with the excuses and try man T_T |

| I guess it's confirmed, the voices are definitely going to be re-recorded.
Though it'd be nice to know which ones should be and which should be kept, just to save time with the programming process. |

| Better yet, how about holding some auditions to seek some proper Voice Actors who actually wanna get the work done well?
Just drop in a script of some clips, we record them, and we send them for you guys to compare and see who is well suited and actually puts feeling into it. |

| You don't have to be dicks about it. They aren't the best, but they aren't awful. Some more emotion put in could be good for the recordings. | Quote: | | Better yet, how about holding some auditions to seek some proper Voice Actors who actually wanna get the work done well? |
You say that as if TAU are professional voice actors. |

If you think you can do a better job, then do it.
Not gonna do it? Then shut up.
It's sad that no one gets that the "bad voice acting" was merely a joke, poking fun at Capcom USA's old habit of doing really shitty voice acting.
As much as I'd love to ask for more people to help out to fill in other characters and stuff, it seems nobody read the first post when it said that only Geo/Subaru's voice clips made the cut intact when Capcom USA fucked around with the sounddata.sdat file while they brought the game over here.
I would be glad to have auditions for Sonia, Zack, Luna and Bud's voices, as well as Shidou for the RnR3 set, but who knows what kinda crap Capcom will pull when Star Force 3 comes out. |

| Actually, I was already recording a couple of cuts with the Demon Flurry/Fuumashippujin using both English and Japanese terms, but... T_T |

Though honestly, I dunno if we'd still use it, since to be honest it feels like we're getting our idea taken away. |

| I was PM'd with some example clips.
Unless I'm wrong, it seems that the clips I was given show that he was trying. No offense, but they didn't seem to fit with the game, and actually sounded a bit worse than Sai's "joke voices."
Again, don't worry, the voices are all being re-recorded to be much better. Hell, I'm pretty sure that the "Ha~~!" and stuff that were complained about before, are going to be filled with rage and power now. XD |

| Everything is soinding pretty good right now, specially the Kizuna Breaks.
But I reached the Burai quotes, those may use a bit more angstyness on their tone instead of arrogance, like an Emo with a sore throat.
Senretsu Kyakku, lol. But since it is a Kung Fu technique, then it´s acceptable.
Other than that, just throw in some enhancing and polishing into the audio, and I say it´s ready for use. =D |
