Actual Review
Good:
+ Beautifully amazing graphics <3
+ Over 30 characters to choose from, with a lot of new, interesting characters.
+ Movelists have been updated, keeping many old favorites while adding some new ones
+ Extremely in-depth Character Creation, with so many things to choose from, and special stats and skills.
+ The beginner learning curve is pretty simple, so someone who's never played before can start up with ease, while returning players can keep their previous skill while adding more.
+ ONLINE PLAY FINALLY
Bad:
- The AI is painfully retarded or impossibly difficult. Either they don't do anything, or they predict everything.
- The Story Mode is absolutely terrible... and lacks much of a story at all.
- To use different weapons, you have to completely customize the character, instead of just choosing a weapon before the match like all the previous games.
- The physics in here are a bit too unrealistic at times, leading to glitch abuse, or just annoying chain spam.
- Unlocking characters is pretty stupid. You don't unlock them, you just buy them.
- They took out the custom/original character fighting styles from SC3... Custom characters must replicate a real character's move set.
Review Score: 8.5/10
This game was released in the middle/end of last summer, and I'm still not bored of it. There's plenty to do, much to unlock, and always people online to fight.
Like I said previously, the Story Mode is absolutely retarded, but oh well.
Then there's the Tower of Lost Souls. You can either climb up the tower and fight floor by floor in custom circumstances, or you can climb down the tower, which is a survival mode. Both ways give you a chance to unlock different things (mostly clothes/armor for the Character Creation).
Then there's VS Modes. Both online and offline are generally the same, except online there's Ranked and Social matches (only difference is you get levels in Ranked). In the VS mode, you choose either Standard or Special matches. Standard is well... standard. None of the skills or changed stats take effect, for a more balanced match. Special is for all those people who go crazy with the customizing to get that perfect match of stats and abilities for the perfect fighter. Both modes are fun, and gives you a chance to make your character just simply look cool instead without worrying about focusing on the stats.
The Character Creation mode is simply amazing. There are so many choices, and so many things you can customize that it's almost too much to deal with XD. You can change the different clothes/armor, and change the colors to anything you want. You can change the hair, face, skin color, even body type. And you can change the voice, too. Different choices of what they say, and even changing the pitch. Some of these people I see online are awesome, hilarious, or simply just amazing... or a mix of the three. I once fought Ronald McDonald online..... XD
One strange thing is that they built an option to have more than one character in the 1P mode, but there's no options to use multiple characters in the VS modes.... oh well. No tag team D:
Also, as I'm sure you all know, they've added Star Wars characters in there. The 360 version starts off with Yoda, and the PS3 version starts off with Vader. Both have The Apprentice as an unlockable character. Both versions can buy the opposite character online, for like $3 I think... something around there.
Yes, Yoda is pretty cheap at times, but he's not completely terrible. To make up for his automatic ability to not get hit by high attacks or grabs, he is incredibly slow, and has to do a multitude of flips for a majority of his attacks, giving you time to counter or dodge. He also has a terrible reach, although he can dive pretty far.
Vader is far more balanced, but his moveset is pretty boring, in my opinion. He's kinda slow, although he's pretty strong.... and his few awesome moves are ridiculously hard to pull off, since it requires the opponent to be lying still on the ground, so you can do force pull moves.
Which leads to the Force moves. You have a Force gauge, which is a little white bar under your name. When you use force, it uses some of the force gauge. To get your force back, all you gotta do is attack or block attacks. Pretty simple. If you try using a force attack when you have none, you'll be temporarily stunned, where it kinda looks like they facepalm, then take a deep breath XD.
I could go on for hours, but I think this is enough for now.... XD
I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes fighting games.... or just anyone. Give it a try, and you'll probably like it =P
