PostSubject: Outdated version of Office? Help?   Sat Sep 24, 2011 12:44 pm

I have a Powerpoint I created in MS Office at school. There, they use the 2010 version. Now, I have the 2003 version on my computer. When I opened up the Powerpoint file on my computer just now, it said that it was made in a newer version of Powerpoint and that some of the stuff was converted to static objects. (I have a Youtube video embedded in one of the slides that no longer works.)

When I present this on the computers at school with the 2010 version, will everything still work? I have a really crappy old version of Office. 2003 sucks. Or will my video just be fossilized into an image? This thing is due either Tuesday or Thursday. I am not ready.

Or, is there a site where I can legally download the latest version? Like a free trial or something. In the meantime I'll Google it...

Thank you to anyone who answers!

OpenOffice.org? It's free, it's as good as Micro$oft Office and has pretty good compatibility with Micro$oft Office.

Or you can download a free trial of M$ Office from M$'s website.

Libre Office is another alternative. I find it's a little bit lighter than Open and opens faster.

Sweet! Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I actually found a free trial of MS 2010 but I don't know how long my computer can last with this thing.

I'll be sure to check both of those out!

I'm not sure what you mean... is it legal?

Doubt it, probably something like a keygen.

Other than downloading it illegally (pfft), there's no other way to get it for free, unless you're a student and your college/uni is involved in something called MSDN Academic Alliance.
